Girardi Hints That Severino May Not Take Chad Green’s Spot.

Chad Green went down in last night’s ball game with an elbow injury. He has been scheduled to receive an MRI, and will obviously miss at least a few starts. With the season winding down the popular choice to replace Green in the rotation was Severino; however, Girardi hinted that may not be the case. Bryan Hoch from MLBlog quoted Giradi saying “We have to do what we think is best in the short-term here, because we have a month left,”

If the Yankees decide to stay away from Severino it sounds like Mitchell will make the next start in place of Green. Severino is better used out of the pen to help solidify the middle of the Yankee bullpen.
