Yankees Shockingly Sign Billy Butler

Via Jon Heyman. The New York Yankees have signed Billy Butler to a deal.

Wow. Didn’t see that coming! The Yankees have signed Billy Butler to a deal to help solidify the offense down the stretch. He was once known as doubles Butler for his strong stroke to the power alleys. Below are Butler’s career stats.

He was released by the Athletics this season, and after being shut out today it seems that the Yankees have looked to add a right handed power bat to DH when McCann isn’t. Surprisingly though Butler has done his best work against righties this season. He does bat an impressive .327 with runners in scoring position.

Another positive is that with the four game series against the Red Sox at Fenway. He might be able to use the green monster to his advantage. The Yankees also three out of four lefties, so expect to see a lot of doubles Butler this week!

  1. Need good veterans to mix with youth. He’s a real clutch hitter too. Too bad nick swisher bombed out at triple A. A good Yankee but in the past. Bully Butler is a real pro
