It is official, Aroldis Chapman will once again don pinstripes. Chapman was obviously the Yankees number one target this off season and they have succeeded by signing him to a 5 year 86 million dollar deal.
This signing really puts last years two trades into perspective. As this whole Chapman trade and signing have come full circle it officially ends like this.
Aroldis Chapman (had to sign him)
Adam Warren (back from the first trade)
The Yankees have now officially inked Aroldis Chapman and he will be closing games for the Yankees for the next five seasons. After what may have been one of the greatest general managing jobs of all time, Brian Cashman’s genius shined through as he acquired a multitude of talent and still ended up with the prize at the end.
For the Yankees they now have the prized prospects and talent that they traded for, and Aroldis Chapman will now be a part of that as well. Yankee fans can rejoice as Aroldis Chapman joins Matt Holliday as new members of the Yankees team. Don’t be surprised if the Yankees don’t make another couple moves in the near future. Don’t count on large signings, but low risk high reward type signings and trades could be on the way.
