The Yankees seem to have some interest in David Robertson and a reunion in New York might not be unrealistic at this point. According to mlbtraderumors.com the Yankees have shown interest in their former closer.
The White Sox are willing to eat some of the salary, but one wonders if the Yankees would take on the entire contract to try and bring down the price on Quintana.
The Yankees obviously have a need for a top of the rotation starter and if they can get Quintana without gutting their farm system the Yankees would be wise to make the move. Quintana isn’t just young, but he’s cheap and would actually fit into New York’s rebuilding phase.
Though a deal is not imminent it would be interesting how a trade with Quintana and Robertson would pan out. If the Yankees are able to land Robertson their bullpen will be by far the best bullpen in baseball. Depth in the bullpen is key and by adding Robertson your bullpen would be set up like this: Chapman, Betances, Robertson, Clippard, Warren, Layne, and then it could also include Severino depending on how he does as a starter. Depth in a bullpen is key and this move would give the Yankees unbelievable depth.
